Episode 139, in which Mike Bobbitt takes over leadership of the Motorcycle Relief Project

It’s been a minute since Mike Bobbitt took on his leadership role with the Motorcycle Relief Project, but that doesn’t matter to what he and the team at MRP are trying to accomplish. In Episode 139 (yeah, 1-3-9!), we expand on the role of MRP in the motorcycling world as Mike takes over from founder Tom Larson, whom we featured in Episode 3 – several years and over 130 episodes ago!

Mike talks about the MRP’s mission, which has expanded to include not just US combat veterans, but all military veterans and first responders (police, EMTs, firefighters, etc.) as well. After all, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can stem from more than being shot at in a combat zone, and it would do us all well to remember this.

Note: In this episode, we discuss issues including PTSD, other traumas and suicide. If you’re in the USA and in crisis or considering suicide, please dial 9-8-8 on your phone to be connected to the national Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Veterans, after connecting dial 1 to talk to somebody who understands your unique issues. If you’re in Canada, call 1 833 456 4566 any time or text 45645 (available 4 PM to midnight). In the UK, dial 0800 689 6562. In the UK and Ireland, dial 116123. In Australia, call 13 11 14. In New Zealand, call 0800 543 354 or text 4357 (HELP). These are the countries with the most CTH listeners – and we don’t mean to leave anybody out, so if you’re in crisis or considering suicide, please reach out to the helpline in your country.
