Episode 76, in which we MOTORCYCLE MONKEY! with Mimi & Moto authors Nancy Gerloff and Mark Augustyn

Have you ever noticed there’s a serious lack of motorcycle-oriented books for children? I mean, sure, we’ve got Beverly Cleary’s The Mouse and the Motorcycle, but that’s really meant for older kids. (Admit it … you still make pbbbbt sounds just like Ralph does!) Can you think of any other popular motorcycle-related book for kids? I tried getting my kid (who is not little any more) to sit down and read the service manual for the FTR 1200, but she wasn’t the least bit interested. It even has pictures!

This is where our first guests in February step in. Nancy Gerloff and Mark Augustyn came up with the idea for Mimi and Moto, a pair of motorcycle-riding monkeys, and they haven’t looked back. Join me and my partner, Penelope – who is herself a children’s book author and former children’s educator – as we dig into how children just might be the future of motorcycling.

Visit the Mimi and Moto website to learn more and buy your own copies of their two books, The Adventures of Mimi and Moto and Mimi and Moto Ride the Alphabet. There’s probably a kid in your family somewhere that would appreciate reading about motorcycling monkeys!

While you’re out there surfing the WWW, take a moment to visit our sponsors, the BMW Motorcycle Owners of America and Dunlop Motorcycle Tires. You can support Chasing the Horizon directly by joining the MOA as a digital member for just $39 a year.

Thanks for listening, and we’ll see you out there somewhere on the road – or off it! Ride safe.
