Episode 107, in which Gonzo says he hopes we ride A LOT in 2021!

Many moons ago (or so it seems), I had former motorcycle police officer and current MOA Key Volunteer Colleen Sepulveda on as a guest for our sister podcast, 200 Miles Before Breakfast. (If you’ve never heard of that podcast, you can find Colleen’s episode on the First 12 page). In our discussion, Colleen mentioned her participation in the Three Flags Classic, an open, five-day rally going from Mexico to Canada. I was intrigued, and Colleen recommended I chat with Gonzo, the guy who runs the group sponsoring the Three Flags.

Though I immediately reached out to Gonzo, it was obviously a long time between then and now, but here we are, it’s 2021 and the Three Flags is on for later this year. I thought it was a great time to reach out to Gonzo again and find out more about the Three Flags and everything else the Southern California Motorcycle Association does. You can connect with the SCMA on Facebook, but that’s their only social media presence. Gonzo hasn’t sent me any photos yet, so please enjoy this photo of a cat on a motorcycle.

Back in Episode 105, Jim Pruner and I talked about the Harley-Davidson Pan America. Now the bike is a reality – Harley had their release event and dealers are taking orders. I talk about the bike for what will definitely not be the last time, and you can read more about it in this article on webBikeWorld.

The only other news piece in this episode is the stunning resurrection of Buell, led by CEO Bill Melvin. He claims New Buell (as I’m calling them) will have 10 models available by 2024, including sport-touring and adventure bikes. Erik Buell was clear and unequivocal when he released a statement detailing exactly how much he is involved with New Buell – and the level of involvement is absolutely zero.
